— Have you ever been to an elaborate theatrical production during which the curtain remains up through intermissions so you can see the workers shifting and turning the huge sets or props on their groaning sleds and rollers? That’s what I’m reminded of every single time when I start to read chapter fifty-three of the prophet Isaiah.
But nowadays in the so-called microwave generation that we find ourselves trapped in, readers have lost their sense of suspense, the sense of romanticism, they have less patience, less imagination but are as thrice more demanding when it comes to the material they read if they read at all. There is simply less and less imagination on the part of the modern reader.
Every thought has to be delivered swiftly and very clear and if I may add, without putting the reader through too much stress less they become effete and we lose them in the process. Nothing can be left out to be understood through suggestions of thought.
